While many members were away from campus during these past summer months, we were able to schedule a selection of events and meetings that had great attendance.
Prior to the summer, we asked those staying in the city about some activities they would like to participate in. This inspired a bowling day and ice cream social. We scheduled all of our activities prior to our June business meeting, the first summer meet-up planned, which really helped get everyone excited and energized about plans.
The summer kick-off business meeting served to celebrate Pride Month with festive gear and discuss planning summer trips. This was our only business meeting of the season which complimented the lighter scale of business topics occurring in the summer months.
In July, we had our first-ever bowling night which was a huge success!
We took over two lanes at Bowl & Barrel, splitting into two teams and bowling for an hour. We had claimed a table in the restaurant area prior to our bowling time to have happy hour snacks and drinks, and allowed time for meal ordering for those who wanted a full meal. We had plenty of time to connect, socialize and meet new members who joined over the summer.
In August, we tried to cool down with fro-yo for an after-lunch social.
We sought refuge from the heat at Yumilicous in Snider Plaza around the lunch hour. We were able to catch up after summer vacations and travels, but were also able to look ahead together for all. We shared our hopes for the new academic year.
Having three meetings, a mix of business and social activities, was the perfect cadence this summer. While we enjoyed the summer fun, we are all definitely looking forward to having everyone back on campus with cooler weather this fall season.
