The LGBTQ+ resources listed below are the various programs and services available for queer and trans students, staff, faculty, and prospective community members.

Current
Resource Center (Dallas) pursues societal equity by proudly offering LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, plus) affirming resources designed to improve health and wellness, strengthen families and communities, and provide transformative education and advocacy.
Trans Pride Initiative is a Dallas-based organization that is working to aid and support transgender and gender-diverse persons in areas of health care, housing, employment, education, and public accommodations. Trans Pride Initiative can provide direct assistance for trans issues and seeks volunteers.
Dallas Hope Charities works to reduce homelessness among LGBTQ+ young adults in North Texas by opening and operating the first LGBTQ+-focused shelter in the Dallas area, tailored to the needs of individuals ages 18-24. Dallas Hope Charities relies on a broad network of volunteers to support this population.
House of Rebirth is a community safe space and oasis for a transformative housing initiative led by Black trans people to assist Black trans women and nonbinary femmes who are adversely affected by intersecting oppression. The House of Rebirth aims to build power and solidarity within intersecting LGBTQ+ Communities of Color.
The Human Rights Campaign envisions a world where every member of the LGBTQ+ family has the freedom to live their truth without fear and with equality under the law. We empower our 3 million members and supporters to mobilize against attacks on the most marginalized people in our community.
The National LGBTQ Task Force advances full freedom, justice, and equality for LGBTQ people. We are building a future where everyone can be free to be their entire selves in every aspect of their lives. Today, despite all the progress we’ve made to end discrimination, millions of LGBTQ people face barriers in every aspect of their lives: housing, employment, healthcare, retirement, and basic human rights. These barriers must go. That’s why the Task Force is training and mobilizing millions of activists across our nation to deliver a world where you can be you.
LGBTQ Support Groups and Financial Resources are available. There are also lots of scholarships for LGBTQ students that can help you pay for your education. And when you just need someone to talk to, someone who gets what you’re going through, you’ll find that there are plenty of support options, from clubs at school to community organizations to hotlines to call. Prospective
National Campus Pride LGBTQ+ Index Score: Campus Pride represents the leading national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBTQ+ students. The organization is a volunteer-driven network “for” and “by” student leaders. The primary objective of Campus Pride is to develop necessary resources, programs, and services to support LGBTQ+ and ally students on college campuses across the United States.

SPECTRUM is SMU’s only undergraduate organization targeted towards providing information, resources, and free space for self-expression for the LGBTQ+ community and any allies interested. Additionally, it seeks to provide LGBTQ+ students with professional and personal growth opportunities.
Pride@Cox is to create an inclusive, safe, educational, and fun space for Cox graduate students who are members LGBTQIA+ community. We also welcome allies to engage with us to learn about our community and make the campus more diverse. We plan to achieve this goal through casual connections, engaging events, and celebrating one another. We hope you’ll join our ranks of #WorldChangers.
Pride Visibility Day: The queer community is an underrepresented and historically marginalized community at SMU and in the greater context of the Southern USA, as we see reflected in contemporary human rights cases. In August 2021, SMU was named one of the “top ten best religious intuitions for LGBT students” by Campus Pride. Pride Visibility Day challenges SMU to deserve this distinction by nourishing a campus culture that aligns with the strength of our LGBTQ-affirming spaces and policies.
SMU Allies Program: Did you know that the word “Ally” is a verb? Being an ally to LGBTQ+ community is not just a title you acquire; it is actions you can take to create a better campus climate for LGBTQ+ people. Ally training gives everyone a better understanding of how to be a better Ally to the entire LGBTQ+ community. SMU’s Women and LGBT Center also offers LGBT 101 training for those who want a more introductory understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.
